Welcome to MSYouth’s online home!

We’ve filled this page with information about things that happen during the course of a normal week and with information about some of the bigger things that go on here. Browse around and check back often as we’re always in the process of revamping the site. If you’d like more information or would like to talk with Ellen Creasman-Jones send her an e-mail.

A “Normal Week”

/files/Images and Artwork/babgelbreakfasts.jpgBagel Breakfasts are pre-school times to gather for devotion, prayer, food, and hanging out. Devotions range from youth focused devotions to reading and interacting with theologians (right now one group is reading Life Together by Dietrich Bonheoffer). This year we have two breakfasts to better accommodate all of our High School Students, but feel free to shake things up and come to either breakfast.
For the 2009-2010 School Year...
Tuesday Mornings  7:30am  – Chick-Fil-A at the corner of Peace Haven and Robinhood (Mt. Tabor, Parkland, Reynolds)
Thursday Mornings  7:30am – Biscuitville on Reynolda Road (Reagan)

/files/Images and Artwork/youthtalk.jpgYouthTalk is a time on Wednesday evening for girls to have girl time and guys to have guy time! Each group is gender specific and touches on issues dealing with things that affect either guys or girls. We meet each Wednesday evening from 6-7pm. Guys meet in the Youth lounge and girls meet in the Jr. high room!

/files/Images and Artwork/amplified.jpgAmplified Do you play an instrument? Do you sing? Would you like to help Maple Springs and MSYouth worship? Great! Come out and join Amplified!! Amplified is MSYouth’s official worship band and in addition to providing music for Youth Only Worship (Y.O.W.) services, once a month Amplified leads the music at our 8:30am worship service in Craven Hall. You don’t have to be a Clapton on the guitar or spitting image of Pavarotti, all you need is the desire to praise God with your instrument or voice! Amplified meets most Sundays from 4:30-5:30pm on the Craven Hall stage.

/files/Images and Artwork/umyf.jpgUMYF As a group we meet as a whole on Sunday nights. After some games and a meal, the group splits up for program time. Our topics are different from week to week but revolve around the call to Love God, and Love Our Neighbor and focus on the “now what.” By doing so we seek to make a difference in this world by meeting people where they are and showing them the love of Christ. Come on over and enjoy some good company, good food, and challenging teaching. UMYF meets most Sundays from 5:30 – 7:30pm in Craven Hall, bring $2 for dinner.

Summer Stuff

Highland Service Project (rising 10th graders through graduated Seniors)

/files/Images and Artwork/hsp.jpgHSP was begun 25 years ago at Highland UMC in Raleigh, NC. It is a mission experience that focuses on repairing/improving housing for low to no-income senior citizens of Wake County. Every summer a group of youth and adults from several churches gather at Camp Lapihio in Umstead Park and spend a week working all over the county. Each afternoon we meet back at camp for showers, free time, dinner, a program, and fun stuff.  If you’d like more info contact Ellen Creasmon-Jones.

Reach Out (all youth)

/files/Images and Artwork/reachout.jpgReach Out was begun several years ago when we had difficulty finding a mission experience for our Middle School students. During Reach Out we stay at Maple Springs and work in our community to better the lives of those around us. In the past we have worked with Open Arms, the Second Harvest Food Bank, AIDS Care Services, Hospice and Pallative Care Center, and the homes of some older Maple Springs’ members. In addition to good days of service the group always enjoys the evening programs, special treats, and awesome games. This week is open to everyone.   Questions? contact Ellen Creasmon-Jones

/files/Images and Artwork/msyouthlite.jpgMSYouth Lite We normally take a break from Sunday night meetings during the summer, but this summer we’re going to meet twice a month for a lighter program that will be led by parents and planned by the Youth Council. Check the online calendar for dates and be sure to bring $2 for dinner.
